Em um firme posicionamento de defesa da soberania nacional, o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva confirmou que o governo brasileiro só concederá o agrément ao diplomata Daniel Perez, indicado pela Casa Branca para a embaixada em Brasília, após o pleito de outubro. A declaração foi feita nesta sexta-feira (14) em entrevista aos podcasts Não Inviabilize e As Cunhãs, onde o presidente rechaçou tentativas de ingerência externa nos assuntos internos do país.
Lula questionou a pressa do governo norte-americano e criticou a postura de Washington de tentar monitorar o sistema eleitoral brasileiro. “Ouvi dizer que eles queriam mandar duas pessoas para vir para cá para estudar as urnas, e nós não demos o visto. Agora, querem que eu apressadamente aceite o embaixador deles”, pontuou o presidente, lembrando que os EUA deixaram a representação diplomática vaga por um ano e meio e decidiram enviar um nome a apenas 45 dias das eleições.
Apesar de marcar uma posição altiva, o mandatário brasileiro reforçou que o país mantém o interesse em uma relação diplomática saudável e baseada no respeito mútuo. Lula ponderou que as recentes tensões não partem diretamente do presidente Donald Trump, mas sim de sua equipe de assessores — apontando especificamente o secretário de Estado, Marco Rubio, como um ator que demonstra resistência aos interesses da América Latina.
Como demonstração de que o Brasil exige ser tratado em patamar de igualdade, Lula destacou a aplicação recente da Lei de Reciprocidade em resposta às tarifas comerciais impostas pelos EUA. “Entramos com a Lei de Reciprocidade para mostrar que a gente não é pouca coisa, e que nós nos respeitamos”, afirmou o presidente, assegurando estar plenamente preparado para defender os interesses e a dignidade do povo brasileiro em qualquer cenário internacional.
